The Collabora Connector Application is an integration of the Collabora Online . It provides the ability to edit collaboratively XWiki attachments that are part of the office suite (i.e. document, spreadsheet or presentation file formats), but also to create one on the fly and save it as a page attachment.
For the application to work, a Collabora server needs to be configured, accordingly to their documentation, and the server address then added to the application administration page.
Usage
Once the extension is active, you will see a new option at the bottom of each page, in the Attachment tab:
You will be able to perform the following actions:
- Edit the existing office attachments by clicking the Edit icon to the right of the attachment name.
- Create new office files, with 3 types being available: documents, spreadsheets and presentations.

Please note that tests were performed using Collabora online server version 24.04.6.2
Using Collabora server as XWiki's office server
Starting with version 1.6.0, Collabora can be used as XWiki's office server.
Installing Collabora office server extension
Collabora office server is not automatically installed with the Collabora Connector Application, requiring manual installation. This is due to the fact that installing this extension will automatically overwrite the default used office server.
Steps to install the Collabora office server:
1. Navigate to the extension manager in global administration:
2. Click on More and then on Advanced search. Fill the fields as follows:
- Extension ID: com.xwiki.collabora:application-collabora-officeserver-ui
- Version: See the version tab for the latest version

Using the Collabora office server extension
After installing the extension, in order for the export as well as the import of office documents to work, XWiki has to be restarted after the installation of the extension. After restarting the instance, the XWiki office server status will be linked to the Collabora Connector Application configuration. Therefore, if Collabora application is disabled, the office server will not be connected. There is no change in the standard behavior of exporting and importing office files, but now the configured Collabora online server will be used for these actions.
Known limitations
- In order for the export as well as the import of office documents to work, XWiki has to be restarted after the installation of the extension. After restarting the instance, the XWiki office server status will be linked to the Collabora Connector Application configuration.
- Currently, Collabora office server extension does not support embedded attachments in a page when exporting it to an office format.
Installation Steps
This paid extensions requires XWiki 15.10 or above. In order to install the extension, follow the next steps inside your XWiki instance (on cloud or on premise).
Navigate to the Extension Manager
In the Applications Panel click on "More Applications..." and then "Install new applications...". Alternatively navigate directly to the Administration and select the "Extensions" section.
Install the Extension
Search for the extension you wish to install and use the Install button to install it.
Get a License
Navigate to the "Licenses" section of the Administration, fill your details, look for the extension you just installed in the live table and click the buttons to get a trial license or to buy a license.
Install the License
If you have selected a trial license then you're good and there's nothing else to do. Your trial license is automatically installed.
However if you've selected to buy a license you'll be redirected to a page to perform the payment. At the end you need to come back to the "Licenses" administration section and click on the "Check for Updates" button. This will download and apply the license you bought.

Installing Paid Apps on Subwikis
If you want to install an application on the whole farm (main wiki + subwikis), you can do so directly from the main wiki’s Extension Manager, as seen below:
Extensions can also be installed only on a particular subwiki by global admins. Subwiki admins will not be able to install these extensions due to their limited rights.
